Alison Nelson’s Chocolate Bar Breakfast Review – Porto Arabia, The Pearl

Overall Review

Tucked at the edge of the Porto Arabia district lies a cute little restaurant called Chocolate Bar. I’m sure many have heard and/or dined at this place already. For those of you who haven’t, it’s a must to try. This is my third time to come here for breakfast and their food and service is consistently good. We came in early at 8AM and we have the whole place to ourselves. The view is great as it is directly beside the sea. The seating areas are ample both in and out and thankfully, the morning heat was quite tolerable (38C is good for Qatar summer standards!) so we got to sit outside.

  1. A quiet morning, this view and your first coffee of the day. What more can you ask for for a Friday breakfast?

They have a good but limited breakfast selection, but if I’m not mistaken you can also order from their regular menu. We ordered the American Breakfast consisting of eggs of your choice, crispy and non-greasy veal bacon and perfectly cooked hash browns, which comes with their fantastic bread and croissant basket. I really love their croissants; it’s flaky, buttery and amazing. Their selection of marmalade and honey is also a nice touch. They make decent coffee that comes with a biscotti.

American Breakfast: Over-medium eggs, cripsy veal bacon and crunchy hash browns

Bread and croissant basket. Can I have another basket for take away, please?

One of these days, I’ll have to try their chocolate fondue and their dessert menu because their pictures look amazing.

Chocolate croissant and latté: winner!

All in all, it’s worth the walk from the parking lot to this place (you’ll know what I mean when you get there).

Customer Service Review

Their staff is very friendly and helpful. They also exceed in service as they proactively suggest to change your ashtray, offer another round of coffee or water without constantly hovering and making you feel that they are waiting for you to pack up and leave.
