Splurge Eats: Sky Lounge at The Torch Doha – 51st Flr.

Mr. Qatar Eats and I had a long day fixing our kitchen today and it was in a total state of mess, which meant no cooking will be done.

And with couple’s usual fashion of “what-do-we-eat” question and “I-don’t-know-you-choose” answer, we both agreed to try the sushi night (no buffet) at the Sky Lounge.
We arrived at the 51st floor thru connecting elevator rides (you stop at 47th flr and transit to the next elevator). I got quite confused for a moment as we stepped out and thought I had to enter thru a curtained door (which was the fire exit 😒) as there was no reception area at the entrance. Finally found a staff who attended to us immediately and seated us at the smoking area.

 Food Review

We ordered Crispy Tuna Roll, California Maki, Smoked Salmon and Shrimp Nigiri (left plate) and Tuna and Salmon Sashimi (right plate).

L-R: Cali Maki, Smoked Salmon Nigiri, Shrimp Nigir, Crispy Tuna Roll, Salmon Sashimi, Tuna Sashimi

The sushi rolls and nigiri were so-so in flavor. I mean, it’s okay but as I mentioned to one person, there was no “wow” factor.

The sashimi were okay as well, I mean if you screw up a sashimi then you seriously need to reflect on yourself as a restaurant with this cuisine.

All in all, not really impressed with the food but the view and ambience makes up for it, a bit.

Customer Service Review

At the beginning, it was good but because they had a circular restaurant, they had to round up the place to attend to customers which made the service a bit slow. But the staff were nice and helpful in explaining the menu, without showing any impatience while we asked them for recommendations.

That view though

 Price Review

Splurge. We paid QR 345 for all plus an orange and pineapple juice.

Sure! Not for the sushi though. Will try food from their regular menu next time.
